The People

The worldwide Turkic population, 170,722,000 people, is made up of nine primary people clusters, comprising 86 different people groups almost all of whom are completely unreached with the gospel. The following eight Turkic cluster groups are Islamic and primarily located in the Middle East or Central Asia.

Primarily located in China, the worldwide Uyghur population is 14,733,000. Of the nine people groups comprising this people cluster, seven are nearly 100% Muslim. There are five distinct dialects among the Uyghurs. With their geographical location being in Western China, the Uyghurs are one of the most difficult to access because of ongoing ethnic tensions resulting in travel restrictions to this part of the world.
